Herotron Technologies, Leipzig
Started in November 2002 this facility has been designed, built and commissioned. It is operational since March 31, 2004, one month ahead of the initial schedule. Meissner Consulting provided a range of services:
- Project management
- Shield design and interface to Architect and Engineering firms
- Process design
- Safety concepts and specifications
- All radiation licences and permits
Proton Therapy, Munich
Meissner Consulting designed, coordinates and manages the interface between the proton therapy equipment and other planning engineers as well as construction firms at the Rhinecker Proton Therapy Center (RPTC) in Munich, Germany.
First patient treatment is delayed due to legal conflicts between ACCEL and RPTC.
Heavy Ion Therapy, Heidelberg
As an expert in radiation safety and interface management Meissner Consulting has been asked by STRABAG and M+W Zander to provide services for the Heavy Ion Therapy Center in Heidelberg, Germany.
This system will consist of two horizontal beam treatment rooms and one patient gantry. The accelerator is provided by GSI.
Electron Beam Product Qualification
When a customized medium energy electron beam facility is planned a close look at product qualification should be taken before too much effort is spent on the facility parameters. Crucial issues are material stability, energy selection and dose distribution, and sterilization dose setting. In this project Meissner Consulting performed a feasibility analysis for electron beam sterilization of PET Bottles, proposing a process design to minimize material effects and optimize dose distribution. Modelling results were validated in an experimental setup using an electron beam accelerator at Studer AG, Switzerland.
Retro-Software-Validation
When software validation has to be performed after the software is already in place challenges have to be overcome. By functional analysis and re-engineering of the necessary design and validation documents (including risk analysis, master validation plan, requirement specifications and validation requirements) Meissner Consulting succeeded to validate software in accordance with FDA guidelines. In subsequent detailed audits by a major healthcare manufacturere the software validation has held up to its promise.
